This has worked for our "fat cat"
We have sister cats, one who is definitely on the plump side and her sister could lose a little. Our vet recommended a "maze feeder". Did some research and saw the reviews so bought 2. The sisters weren't super keen on them at first but now, after 3 weeks, not an issue. They were a bit bigger than I had expected but it's ok. Often come home and the bowl is in a different part of the kitchen because they are having to pull food out but it's ok.Our "fat cat" would inhale food, even as a grazing eater, and often puke up her meal a few times a week. She was not playful and slept a ton, I know cats do that a lot. After a few weeks with this feeder, she has only thrown up once (today) and her sister once as well. They both chew their kibble more fully now and spread out their eating ever more so. "fat cat" has definitely lost weight already, has more energy, plays more, "fights" with her sister and seems happier.I have never written a review for a product on Amazon before but thought this was important as our pet's health, like any family members, is so important. Hope this works for your cat!

this has issues
I bought this for my cat that eats too fast and then vomits on the rug. He hates it. One problem is that when tries to get the food out, the bowl slides all over the floor, so he can't get traction on the food. I solved this by taping it the floor with packing tape. A suction sticker on the bottom would be nice, like someone else mentioned. While before he ate too much, now with this he eats too little. He gets tired of trying to fish out his food and leaves before finishing. At the end of the day, he is not eating as much as he needs to, and I need to scoop some onto the floor to make sure he doesn't lose too much weight. Maybe my cat is just a difficult cat. I might try again with a similar product, the idea is good, but the product doesn't work so well my cat. This is better then cleaning cat vomit off the rug, but now I have a different problem.

Durable and very sturdy - going to last for a while.
A couple of months back I took in a stray tortie feral cat that was on my garden wall. Seemed to be about 6 weeks old. Checked with neighbors - nobody claimed her. She is really sweet now - loves to cuddle - follows me around constantly - loves playing etc. But, when it comes to food, she turns into something else - she just devours her food like it's her last meal. And, as soon as she is finished, she looks around at my other older cat's plate and tries to get what she can from her. Sometimes she won't even finish her own food and goes straight for the older cat's food.. I think her behavior maybe comes from her being feral and eating food like it maybe her last meal. So, tried this slow-feeder this morning and it has worked out great - took her a whole ten minutes to finish. Definitely would recommend this - but not sure if she would go back to her old eating habits if I did not have this. But, at least it's a start to getting her to eating a little slower.

Took Some Introducing....but now Bubbles (my cat) LOVES it!
Well my 2 year old Himalayan was not interested at first, until I took the time to show him (one grain at a time) how it worked. Now he just loves it, and I feel he feels very proud of himself, and has a new interest in everything. The great kibble hunter:):) It interests him and keeps him eating slowly. I think he really enjoys the 'challenge" and shows off, if he sees I'm watching. Also he has very fat paws, but they still fit in there, between the spikes, and he grabs each piece with his claws, if he can't just slide it down. What a clever idea!

I’m happy but ginger isn’t
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My fox terrier isn’t very happy. Of late she has turned into a four-legged vacuum cleaner at feeding time. No matter what I did I couldn’t get her to slow down or chew her food. So then I bought this bowl and it works. She would much rather just sit there and gulp her food but this definitely slowed her down. I’m not crazy about the spikes on the bowl some of them are pretty high and make it very difficult for her to get the food. But she’s managing

Perfect for dogs who eat too fast! Bonus— its sturdy as a chew toy for my baby German Shepard!
I originally had one of these bowls given to me for my Jack Russell terrier, who eats at the speed of lightening. It significantly has slowed her eating, and she has to work to get her snout into the bowl to get those last morsels of food. It’s been a really handy bowl to have! Now, I am the mom of a new German Shepard, so I purchased another one for her, and it has likewise come in handy for her, and my new baby likes to chew on it with her sharp puppy dog teeth in her spare time. I let her, because aside from some scratched on the prongs that are within the bowl, it it pretty much indestructible. My new pup with carry it around in her mouth, even though it’s heavy for her, and then fling it on the floor and then start chewing away. I am so pleased with the idea of this bowl, as well as its durability. I highly recommend this bowl!

So glad I got it!
I got this for my cat. He was eating way to fast and making himself sick. At first, he looked at it and was confused, but I helped him see that the food was there. What used to take him a few minutes to gobble down takes him about an hour or more. I will say that the “spikes” are taller than I thought, but they are not pointy or dangerous.

Mostly good, make the cats work
I like the product, I'm going to keep it but here are some notes for future buyers:For a full grown cat (8-10+ pounds) the spacing between the spikes might be a little tight for their paws. My cats are very food driven so I can tell that its more than possible for them to make it work, so there is that. I just got a lot of cat side-eye for making them work harder than usual :)Keep that in mind if your cat (or dog) is even larger I supposeIn general: solid product, does its job, annoys my cat, easy enough to clean, and looks like a weird purple sea urchin on my floorI wish the spikes were a little more spaced out or thinner, but its not a deal breaker.
