Excellent Scanner!
After much research, I decided on this scanner. I have owned it since February 2012 and scanned over 2500 pages in that time.PROS:Very reliableMade in Japan!Quiet operationTWAIN drivers - no proprietary scan software required to operate!Minimal paper jamsSmall footprintExcellent, sturdy designEasy configuration, works well with Windows 7 64Replaceable / maintainable rollersFAST, high quality scansCONS:ExpensiveI have seen several people complain that this scanner gets paper jams. Mine only has issues with folded or badly crinkled documents. Otherwise, I have gotten very reliable results after loading up to 40 pages at a time. The only issue I have experienced is with Adobe Acrobat X Pro - sometimes it will crash after processing the last scanned page, requiring everything to be rescanned. Closing Adobe Acrobat then reopening it prior to scanning a large document seems to prevent this from happening.

Bait and Switch
Beware - Amazon claims this comes with Adobe Acrobat Standard software ($200 retail), it does not, it ships with some junk called eCopy Pro Office. Amazon customer service allows you only the choice of return or keeping it and contacting the manfacturer. False advertising! Never would have bought something with knock off software, shame on Amazon and Canon. Go for Fujitsu, they claim theirs does come with the latest version of Adobe.

Curse you foul beast, and whatever engineer gave you birth!
Its your choice, you can buy this scanner or ram bamboo shoots under your own fingernails. Both experiences will render the same amount of consumer satisfaction. I've had this device about 2 years, but from the very beginning it stubbornly refused to correctly scan in batch mode, pulling multiple sheets through at one time. I have become an expert in painstakingly fanning out multiple pages of large documents hoping for that elusive "good scan". There is a switch to select single page, versus multiple page scan, but it appears to be a decoy. On many occasions I have been embarrassed when I forwarded a PDF to my Board of Directors only to be notified that some pages were missing in the middle. Finding a replacement has just moved to the top of my to-do list, but first I must race against time to somehow get a 10-page document scanned before the will to live has completely left me. Thankfully I work on the 1st floor and the windows in my office do not open.

Nice scanner but needs care
So far the scanner has done well (3+ weeks). The only issue I have is the exit of the scanned paper. IMHO the extended tray is flimsy . They could have made a nice solid wide exit tray that folds. I'm constantly worried that somethig is going to fall and snap it off. Knowing what I have now, I would buy a faster scanner as I am always waiting on the scanner. I do very much like the one puch buttons on the right side. Very handy and quick

Flawless Scanning and Perfect Quality
Amazing Scanner. Have used it for a few months now and couldnt be more happy about the purchase. Went through ALL the reviews and all the scanners in the similar price range. The Canon may cost just a bit more than others but the image quality is flawless, the pages fly through, have scanned over 3,000 pages and I have not had a jam and only one time it feed through an entire document then when I refed it worked fine. This couldnt be easier especially with the software. It sits on the desk, when you are ready to use put in the stack of paper, press button, program instantly loads on screen (no computer clicks), once done feeding, name it and save it.

' It makes great images, though
I much prefer my Fujitsu ScanSnap but a certain application used at our office was not compatible and the manufacturer steered us to this Canon which is, but it is very temperamental and I am constantly being prompted to locate it when it goes "missing!' It makes great images, though.

It's pricey but you get what you pay for.
I thought long and hard about spending this much money for a scanner but since I'm a genealogist (amateur) I have alot of pictures and documents to scan I went for it. And I was not disappointed. This little machine can handle it very well and most importantly very fast! I had been scanning on an EPSON flatbed 3 in one printer, copier, scanner but it was PAINFUL from a time perspective. In a split second, the Canon DR-2010C has anything you give it completed and is waiting for the next one! Obviously, I still need my flatbed scanner for items that are thick and cannot feed through the Canon but OMG, this Canon cannot be beat for everything else.
